Table Runner

A loved one recently bought a new house and she was furnishing it. That inspired me to gift her a runner for her dining table.

The upholstery on the dining chairs was a colour which looked gray in daylight and off-white under lights.

So I made her a two-in-one table runner – off- white on one side and gray on the other. (Though this is photographed on a 60 inch table, it is actually meant for a 72 inch one.)

I painted the off-white with maroon and gray with the help of stencils to give a sober, classy and elegant look.

The other side I painted with the classic combination of red and green to give it a bright, festive modern look.

I also made 4 matching place mats. Hope this table runner sees happy family dinners around it.

Fabric painting on Saree

A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.
― Paul Cezanne

Fabric painting projects excite me as they are customized according to the individuals who are going to wear it.

This one was due for a long time, but couldn’t meet this loved person due to the pandemic. Finally finished it.

A classic combination of black and pink needed just a little hint of gold on the borders and Pallu to elevate it to another level.

Milestone blanket for baby

If you’ve ever had a baby, you will know how eagerly you wait for each and every milestone of the growth of the baby. Right from the completion of 1 week, 1 month to 1 year and all other stages in between like turning on the stomach, sitting, crawling and walking.

I had seen such blankets being sold online and liked the way they provided a nice backdrop for a baby photoshoot.

So when an opportunity presented in the extended family, I hand-painted this blanket as a gift. After carefully drawing the layout of the numbers, the cute little baby elephant and the bright butterfly, I made a frame of one stroke painting flowers. And since we don’t know whether it’s going to be a boy or a girl, I used both blue and pink.

For the ring for marking the month , I made a flower from a non-woven bag.

Daisies and Roses – One stroke fabric painting

Daisies are yellow and roses are pink, One stroke painting is the coolest, I think.

Green top with yellow daisies

The green cotton silk top has daisies painted in shades of yellow. And I have outlined the petals with a pearl white fevicryl outliner. The flowers pop out and add that oomph to the painting.

White top with pink rose buds

The white top has a nice rose design going round the neck and the front. It is painted in swirls of pink and the details are outlined in pearl.

Blue Daisy : One stroke painting on Fabric

One stroke is the easiest type of painting once you get the hang of it. After having done a lot on paper, I did a few fabric paintings as well.

So here’s a olive green coloured cotton silk top with blue daisies on the front.
